Onions In

I spent a couple of hours at the allotment this morning and planted my onions and garlic.

I know that it's too late for garlic - but better late than never!

I have a row of Solent White garlic and a row of Cristo garlic.

I have two rows of Stuttgarter Giant onions, one row of F1 Centurion onions and a row of Red Baron onions.

  1. Hi Graeme, Thanks for following my blog. I thought I would pop over to see what you are up to and what part of the country you are in.
I am very impressed with your allotment it looks so neat and tidy. I think you should be OK with your garlic it maybe wont be as big as when it's planted in the autumn though. My first year on my plot was around this time and my garlic went in a bit later than yours. But the second year I planted it in the Autumn, it loves a cold snap to swell the bulbs, and the result was great big garlics. Good luck with this year.

  2. This is looking brilliant - and although the books might say that it is too late for planting garlic - I did the same last year - and they were brilliant.

I am so looking forward to seeing how your plot develops. My plot is 250ft long and 33ft wide - it used to be 330ft long, but I gave some of it up.

  3. Hi Graeme - I didn't see it but apparently last week's Gardener's World programme said now was the perfect time to plant garlic. I thought you had to do it earlier too, but apparently not! I'm doing mine today anyway.
